Barwon Coast will be running a limited trial allowing dogs and campfires at selected campsites across Barwon Heads, Riverview Family, and Breamlea Caravan Parks during the winter low season, from Thursday, 12 June to Friday, 12 September, 2025.
This three-month trial is in direct response to ongoing feedback from campers and local community members who have called for more flexibility in how they enjoy our parks. The goal is to test whether seasonal, carefully managed options for dogs and campfires can be successfully introduced in future years.
The trial is designed to be low-risk, with a limited number of selected campsites designated for dogs and/or campfires. These sites will be clearly marked and managed by park staff.
Campfires will not be permitted at Breamlea Caravan Park due to its unique environmental sensitivities and site constraints. Cabins and twelve-month permit sites are excluded from the trial.
We’re encouraging all community members and park visitors to learn more and share their feedback. A dedicated survey will open on Thursday 12 June, the first day of the trial, to gather insights from both campers and the broader community. Your input will help guide future decisions about camping experiences across Barwon Coast.
