Vegetation restoration works begin at Barwon Bluff this week

Barwon Coast will commence on-ground works this week for our coastal vegetation restoration trial at Barwon Bluff.

The trial is part of Barwon Coast’s ongoing commitment to protecting and enhancing the natural environment. The works aim to restore native vegetation and improve biodiversity by carefully reducing the dominance of Coast Tea-tree. This will create space and light for local indigenous plant species to regenerate and thrive, helping to support a healthier and more resilient coastal ecosystem.

Two sites near Barwon Bluff have been selected for their ecological significance, with the works expected to take around four weeks to complete. The trial is supported by a DEECA conservation work exemption, following consultation with Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation and local conservation groups, who are supportive of the project.

Barwon Coast will monitor both sites after the works to assess the trial’s success and guide future restoration efforts.
